Visual Communications Programs

The Visual Communication program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the commercial art, graphic design, and multimedia industries. Students enrolled in visual communication and graphic design courses at IADT can enhance basic drawing, design, and typographical skills to create professional, illustrative solutions to commercial design problems. Digital imaging, computer illustration and animation, desktop publishing, web development and prepress skills training are used to help refine concepts and develop students’ individual skills and talents. Graphic design and portfolio classes can help prepare students for their internships and professional careers in computer graphics, graphic design, web design and visual communications.

The schools programs in the field of visual communication are designed to provide graduates with advanced skills in graphic design that will enable them the opportunity to keep abreast of the changing and emerging technology and subsequent trends in the computer graphics and graphic design industries. Students in these courses will study in such advanced areas as litigation graphics, digital imaging and modeling, computer animation, tradeshows, web design, web development, and integrated projects that will not only involve finished design but will also focus on the entire design process, tracking of the process, and analysis of the goals and target audience. Career focused skills in application of both theory and principles of applied graphic design will be studied.
